My Funny Little Girls

March 2010: Continued

All the family was over for Easter dinner. We had a plate of chocolate eggs on the table for those playing the card game, Tick. Hannah came over and sat on mommy's lap. Then she saw the chocolate. Before we realized what she was doing she threw herself across the table and grabbed a chocolate egg. What a big smile she had on her face.

During Easter week we talked every day about what happened on that first Easter. We opened all the Easter eggs that contained symbols of the events of Jesus' death, burial and resurrection. Every time we talked about how the soliders beat and mocked Jesus, Bekah would throw her hands up to her mouth. Then she would cry out, "But I LOVE Jesus!" She just couldn't understand why anyone would treat him so horribly. If only our hearts were all as affected as hers.

April 2010

The girls have been getting very jealous when one gets more attention than the other. Hannah (18 months) was sitting on Daddy's lap. Bekah (3 1/2 years) came up to snuggle with dady too. Hannah pushed Bekah away and said, "No! My daddy! Mine!"

When mommy and the girls were walking by the creek, mommy stopped to take pictures. Hannah stood in teh grass and flowers and had the best time playing with the grass. Mommy gave her a flower and her whole face lit up with joy. She waved it around and smiled and then started giggling. A little while later she was looking at some beautiful poppies. She pulled off all the petals and tried eating them. She was so cute!

Today Bekah had a peanut butter sandwich and mac and cheese for lunch. She opened her bread, put a bunch of macaroni in it and took a bite. Then she picked off all the macaroni covered with peanut butter and ate it. Yum!

Bekah made the comment, "I just totally spilled!" to Daddy the other day.

Bekah and mommy had been studying about Isaac and Rebekah in the Bible. Mommy asked Bekah during dinner who Isaac's children were. Bekah answered, "Jane and Michael". I guess we watched Mary Poppins too much.

Hannah has started calling yogurt, "Yuck!"

Bekah's first dentist appointment was on April 3rd, 2010. We went to see Dr. Oliver in Sebastopol. There was a blue tooth fairy out front of the darling little cottage where the office was. Bekah wouldn't smile for her picture at first. Then she got to look inside a kangaroo's mouth with a mirror. When the dentist came to look inside her mouth her hands were tight around mommy's neck. Soon she relaxed and got her teeth checked-no cavities! Bekah let the dental assistant use her tickle wand to shine up her princess teeth. Then Bekah got to pick a prize and smiled for her picture. We went to play in this cute little playhouse in the back. It was surrounded by tons of flowers. What a great experience!

Hannah was 19 months old in April. She loves to smile and laugh. She is often also whinny and clingy. Hannah has just started to really want mommy all the time. She loves to be held and cuddled and is so content if you will just be with her. She has been getting quite a loud voice lately. She can often be her shouting, "Mam! Mam! (mom)! God lay down Bailey! Daddy! Bek! or Ourside!" Hannah's favorite thing to do is to go inside, slose the screen door then holler till someone opens it so she can go out.

This is one of Bekah's prayers: "Dear God, (very dramatic) Please help me obey my mommy and my daddy. I didn't obey because I disobeyed. I chose to disobey but HELP me to obey, because I really want to obey." Bekah is trying so hard to obey and is so repentant when she recognizes her disobedience.

The Girls are Growing Up

The girls are growing up so fast. Bekah is 3 1/2 years old and Hannah is 1 1/2 years old. They are constantly changing and are so fun to be around. Here are some of the fun things that have been said at our house.

March 2010

Bekah and Auntie Shonna were talking about the next day. Shonna said, "Bekah, we are going to have fun tomorrow. Auntie Shonna is going to babysit you." Bekah got this surprised and overjoyed look on her face and shouted, "Auntie Shonna, you rmembered your name!!!"

As Bekah followed her Aunt Shonna into the kitchen she asked her why her bottom moved when she walked. We all got a good laugh!

Bekah loves the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. She gets everyone to tell her the story as often as she can. Bekah loves telling you the whole story back as well. She enjoys doing the voices of the bears.

Hannah makes us laugh all the time. every time we ask her a question she shakes her hear deliberately up and down or side to side and says, "Yeah!" or "No!" She is getting more and more opinionated.

Whenever Hannah is hungry she opens her mouth wide and points inside. If we ask her is she is hungry, she nods four to five times and says "Yeah!" Then she will run to her high chair and say up!

Everyday Mommy rocks Hannah before laying her down to sleep. Mommy puts her music on, turns off the light and snuggles with her for awhile. She loves to put her hand on mommy's shoulder. Sometimes she puts her hand on mommy's back while her back is being rubbed. Oh, how precious this time is.

Hannah has just started to point to all the bears in her room (it is full of Pooh bears). She trys to say Pooh bear and Piglet. Every day she points to her lamp which has Christopher Robin reading a book to Pooh bear and says, "Robin, book, bear" . She has to push the button on her clock before snuggling with mommy.

Bekah just learned how to glue things onto paper. Her 1st encounter with gluing was dipping macaroni in glue and sticking it on papter. The next time we tried gluing cereal onto paper. That stopped quickly due to Bekah constantly eating the ceareal adn feeding it to Bailey. Then we tried a gluestick and glueing cut papter onto paper. Bekah enjoyed that for a few minutes. Then mommy discovered her using the gluestick as chapstick. Yuck!

Tonight Bekah wanted a cup of cold water. We encourage independence so mommy sent her to the kitchen with the empty cup. Bekah returned after a few minutes with her drink. When Bekah went to bed mommy was surprised that all of Bekah's water was gone. That's when she found out that Bekah had poured Mommy's chocolate milk into her own cup and drank it all up. Bekah said she did it since she couldn't push the button for the water.

Hannah said Bekah's name for the first time today. She kept whispering Be-Kah when walking over to give her a cup.

Hannah also loves to stand at the backdoor and look outside. She shouts, "Outside!" over and over. Anytime she can sneak out (with Bekah's help) she does.

Hannah has discovered that she loves Apple Jacks. however, she picks out all the green ones and refuses to eat the pink ones.

Bekah thinks that Daddy's computer bag is his own personal diaper bag.

Good Memories and Fun Times

Here are some more funny quotes from my girls, Ok mostly just Bekah.

October 2009

Bekah ran into Grandmom's office and immediately grabbed the crackers and peanut butter. Then she turned to Grandmom and demanded a cracker. Mommy stopped Bekah and asked her what she needed to say to her Grandmom. Bekah responded, "Can I have two crackers."

November 2009

Daddy told Bekah, "We must eat our eggs with haste." Bekah then responded, "No, we must eat our eggs with cheese."

Bekah listened to Brittany's heart with a stethoscope and didn't hear anything. She was very concerned that Brittany had no heart. During lunch time she prayed that God would help Brittany since she didn't have a heart.

December 2009

One evening when mommy was making dinner, Bekah asked for vanilla milk. Mommy started heating up the milk and Bekah got the vanilla extract down. A minute or two later mommy heard Bekah call, "Mommy! (cough) Help Me!!" Mommy ran into the living room to find Bekah with the vanilla bottle in her hand, vanilla running down her chin and all over the floor. She was coughing and almost throwing up. After a drink of water we discussed how if one has to hide from mommy to do something, it probably was not a good idea to do. She kept saying over and over, "I hope I learned my lesson!"

Bekah loves to say, "That's not bad. That's good." and "Is that a good idea, mom?"

We have been having lots of trouble getting Bekah to pick up her toys quickly. Tonight Bekah and Hannah made a huge mess. Mommy asked Bekah to pick up her toys. Bekah said, "No! I don't want to pick them up." Mommy responded, "You need to pick them up in 10 minutes or mommy will take away the toys." She looked straight at mommy and said, "You can just pick them up now and take them away." She even offered to pick them up and put them in the garbage bag to put out in the garage. Then she pointed out one that mommy missed.

January 2010

When Bekah's tummy hurts, mommy often gives her a hot water bottle to help it feel better. The other day she kept asking for a warm american for her tummy. After several questions mommy figured out that she wanted a hot water bottle.

Bekah's prayer: Dear Jesus, Thank-you for alligator (gatorade) and Daddy's Pepsi and Mommy's hot chocolate and Hannah's milk and lasagna and green beans and bread and butter. Amen.

Bekah had been dry during her nap time several days in a row. Mommy said that she was such a big girl. Bekah responded, "I am such a big girl. I'm almost a grown-up. I'm almost a mommy!"

Our first born loves her eggs with joke (yolk).

We went to Disneyland (though Bekah always calls it Bisneyland) with our family. Hannah was just along for the ride. Bekah loved going on all the rides. Her favorite rides were the tea cups, the carousel and the Pirates of the Carribean.

The second day in Disneyland our keys to the car got lost on a ride. We had the kids stop many times in the next day to to pray that God would help us find the keys. Bekah was convinced that we could not get home EVER if we didn't find the keys. She prayed very hard that God would help us. And He did!!! Shortly before leaving the park on the last night we found them at City Hall. What a great showing of God's provision. He care for even the little things.

Bekah woke up from her nap and walked down stairs. Her Grandpop and his doggy Cassie was there. Daddy said, "Bekah, do you see who is here?" She looked up and shouted, "Cassie!" Then ran and gave her a hug-completely ignoring Grandpop.

Daddy and Bekah were having lunch. Bekah asked Daddy repeatedly what the picture was on her shirt. Daddy kept saying, "I don't know." Then Bekah asked, "Do you not have a clue?"

That is all I have for now, though I am sure I will have lots more to share in the future.

Funny Memories

I love reading back through all the funny things that Bekah does and says. She just makes me laugh so much. Here are some more stories to share with you.

April 2009

Every time that Bekah chokes and gets water down the wrong pipe she says, "Burp me!!"

Bekah spent a weekend with her Grandmom and Grandpop. As they were driving to church Bekah said, " Sometimes I get so tired of Grandpop's driving."

May 2009

We were on our way to visit Grandma Martha. Mommy said we were going to get ice cream to share. She asked Bekah, "Do you want Carmel or chocolate on your ice cream?" Bekah said, "Carmel. I think I can handle that."

When we walked into the nursing home there were a bunch of grandma's sitting in wheel chairs. Bekah ran up to one of them and handed her the pictures for her grandma. Then she gave the lady a big hug and tried to climb into her lap. The sweet lady was so thrilled.

While our family was at the Writebol's house, Bekah and Allie went off to play. They found a way into Stephanie and Jeremy's room. There they found two tubes of tooth paste. When we discovered them, the door was locked and they were both covered with tooth paste. They painted the carpet and mirror as well. The room smelled fresh and minty. We couldn't stop laughing as we cleaned them up.

June 2009

Today during lunch Bekah and mommy had a great talk. Bekah said she was going to be a big daddy when she was big. Not a mommy. A Daddy! She then said she wasn't going to be a mommy, just a big girl. Then she told me when she was big she was going to drive; every where including the post office.

Bekah asked Mommy what was on her shirt. Mommy said, "It is a Nike symbol that is a swoosh. Bekah laughed and giggled and said that was a silly word. "See-woosh!" She kept asking mommy to say it again and again. Then Bekah started praising God and said, "God made mommy and daddy and Hannah and me. God made sham-poooo, towels, sink and the bath tub." She just loves to stop and thank God for all that He has given us.

Bekah is finally getting back in the mode of saying she loves us. She will hold our face in her hands. Then she gets right up in our face and passionately says, "I just love you so much!" It is the sweetest thing.

Her words of the month that we find so funny are: Hop-is-school=Hospital, Pop-is-school=Popsicle, Charlie browns=Hash browns, part-part=Pop tart and French fries in her hair= French braid.

Who are you going to grow up to be like? Bekah's answer, "Bekah".

After Baily stole and ate Bekah's last two bites of chicken nuggets, daddy said that Baily was a bad doggy. Bekah piped up, "But I still love her."

On our camping trip to Mt Cobb with the Boyds and the Laffans, God protected us in a big way. Robin, Michelle, Dan and Sarah, along with eight small children went on a long walk. On the last stretch of the walk Sammy said that he saw a snake. Sarah was walking ahead of the others with five little kids and looked over to see the snake. It was a two foot long rattle snake lying only a foot or two away from where the kids were standing. We all froze and then instructed the children to quietly walk past it. Once past the snake, it slithered off the trail and into the woods. I praise God for protecting each one of us.

One morning on that camping trip we were sitting around the fire pit. Max saw Hannah and asked what her name was. Then he said, "She's a cute baby. Just like a fat, little pig." We all got a good laugh.

Bekah loves to say, "You are my precious little girl!" to her mommy.

August 2009

Bekah told Mommy and Daddy that she wrote a note for them. The note said to get bacon at the store since she really wanted bacon. At least that's what she told us.

Bekah's favorite saying that she says at least once a day is, "Jesus died on the cross and Noah's ark was full of animals."

We told Bekah that we were going to help the Boyds get ready to move. She started jumping up and down and shouted, "I love boys!"

We told her Josiah would be there too since they are good friends. She remembered that two months ago he held her hand. What are we in for?

Hannah is 10 1/2 months now. She just got her third tooth and is about to get her fourth. Boy is she cranky! She can say mama, dada and shriek loudly. She has just discovered how to pop her tongue off the roof of her mouth.

Bekah loves to ask everyone, "Are you a fan of Pepsi?"

September 2009

Bekah to Daddy, "You're the best hot chocolate in the world!"

After Learning Lambs Childcare during Bible study, Bekah was asked to recite her verse. She said proudly, "Don't touch any body." Mommy is glad that she knows the rug rules. Now we have to work on her actual verse.

At 11 months old Hannah is cruising and climbing and crawling every where. She likes to scoot across the floor with her hands and one knee down while she pushes herself forward with her other foot. Hannah likes to say "Bye" and she flicks her wrists in a darling way to wave. It is so cute!

Bekah to Daddy, "Where do fingers live?"

The Story of the Good Samarian. Told by Bekah. Bad people beat up God with a key and they took His money. Jesus came and put her in bed to help him heal.

Snow Time in Colorado

Megan and Phil snowboarded at the local park. They talked my dad, Chris and me into trying to snowboard. We each tried a few times on a little hill that went right into the playground. We finally had to stop when the sun set. Oh, and the camera ran out of batteries.

This was one of my first attempts at snowboarding.

My sweet little sister and me.

This was an awesome shot of Megan flying by me.

Ready to go snow boarding at the park.

I love that my dad looks like he went face first into the tree. Don't worry, he wasn't harmed in the making of this picture.

We went out sledding at a local park. It was so much fun.

Hannah went down the hill all by herself 12-15 x's. She loved it and only fell on her face the last time.

Taeya didn't want to keep her mittens on. Then she got cold hands and wanted her mommy's gloves.

Even Chris had fun sledding.

Christmas in Colorado

Our family was able to go to Colorado to visit my sister and her family for Christmas. We had a hard time getting there since our flight was canceled. We ended up getting a shuttle to San Francisco, staying in a hotel, getting up at 3:30 the next morning to make a 6 am flight. Once in Colorado we had a wonderful time. My parents were able to be there and celebrate with us and that was very special. We had a great time playing games, playing in the snow and just being with family.

My darling Hannah is all ready for Christmas!

One of my favorite pictures.

Megan, Philip and Taeya make such a great picture.

Taeya had such a sweet smile.

Bekah loved her sock monkey!

Taeya is all dressed up for Christmas.

Papa Karl held Hannah during breakfast. She was so sick and just wanted to be held. At least there were lots of arms to hold her.
